General Information

Use the roster form available at the link below. Use as many copies as you need to list all your players. You don't need to send the roster to anyone, but you should have it with you in case a player is challenged. The roster serves as a liability waiver for the league.

Please report game results each week to the league president so the standings can be kept current.

The RHASC information line, which also serves as the Rain line, is updated daily during the season. The number is 703-758-4055.

If no umpire is present at the field 15 minutes prior to game time, call 703-930-6650.

Managers: Please make sure everyone on your team plays with the thought in mind that this is recreational, we all have to go to work in the morning, and we all want to remain healthy. Please slide or otherwise avoid contact with fielders when running the bases.

Remember, it is an Over-40 rule that no player plays on 2 teams in the Over-40 League, regardless of division.

Over-40 Special Rules (Otherwise regular RHASC rules apply)

  1. Players are ineligible until 40th birthday after which they may be added to rosters. No player may be added to a roster after Sept. 1. An opposing manager may request the ID of a player who is suspected to be below minimum age. If a player is unable to produce adequate ID at game time, he has one week to present proof of age to the league. Failure to comply will result in the team forfeiting all games in which the player participated.
  2. 3-2 count, 1 courtesy foul.
  3. Unlimited DH’s. Every player present can bat with any ten playing the field. However, no player can play defense who is not in the batting order (i.e.- no designated fielders). Late arriving players may be added to the end of the batting order at any time.
  4. If a player has to leave the game, and there is no legal substitute available, there is no penalty (i.e.- he is not automatically out his next time up), but he may not re-enter that game.
  5. Courtesy runners may be used. The substitute runner may be anyone that the manager chooses, however no one can be a courtesy runner twice in an inning; a courtesy runner may not be used for another courtesy runner (except for injury); and, if the courtesy runner is on base and is scheduled to bat, he is called out and removed from the base in order to take his turn at bat.
  6. 3 home-run limit, then the "1 up" rule applies. Excess home runs will be considered foul balls. The home team may go 1 up in the last of the 7th if the visiting team had the same opportunity in the top of the 7th. (Home run limit may be waived if both coaches agree. Coaches may also agree to raise the limit to 5 and/or make the penalty for excess home runs a single.)
  7. 12-run slaughter rule, 65 minute time limit
