* FAS - Reston/Herndon Division Softball follows ASA rules with the following Exceptions:

 

* 60 minute time limit on all games (no new inning after 60 minutes)

* 12 run slaughter rule after 4 ½ innings

* 3-2 count one courtesy foul

* 3 home run rule, with one up rule, extra homers are foul-balls, with option to count extra homers as singles.  WED Men’s only has the 5-home run rule.

* Ball caught in nets or through fence ground rule double

* 10 minute delay rule for first game of the night, comes off game time

* Extra hitter rule, up to 14 may be added after game starts.

* EH rule coed, max 7 male, unlimited female up to 14 total. Ex 10female/4male, 7female/7male

* Eight players needed to start and finish a game

* In the parking lot is considered present

* No metal spikes

* No uniform required, headband/bandana acceptable

* Waive ASA catching rule

* Rain delay up to 20 minutes, comes off game time

* If 1st or 2nd game is rained out Umpire may also decide to call 3rd and 4th game

* Softball: only ASA approved, .44 core or less

* Coed, eight players may start 5 men three women, missing women are counted as outs

*  Coed, max male defensive players limit is 5 men. No limit on women.

* Women can outnumber men without penalty. 

*  Women can sub for men & vice versa within the above limits.

* The positioning rule is waived for coed. There is no such thing as poaching!

* The rule pertaining to players remaining in the dugout is waived.

* One pitch if tied and within time limits at the end of seven innings

* No Stealing

* Any bat that has a 1.20 BPF rating or below is acceptable unless on the latest Bat Banned List.

* If no umpire is present w/in 10 minutes of game time, 930-6650, 

* If lights are out, or go out at LakeFairfax or Baron Cameron call 471-5415

* If lights are out, or go out at Bready Park, inform the community center, 435-6868.

* Umpire on field makes final decision, within rules, during tournaments

* Results must be posted on FAS Website by EACH TEAM within 48 hours, MANDATORY

Per New ASA Bat Performance Standard that becomes effective January 2, 2005, certain bats are no longer allowed in FAS-RHD League or Tournament play.

Note that any bat on the list that has been re-certified by the manufacturer will be considered legal for play.
